This past Sunday I was feeling like a "bad Christian", uninspired, guilty for not feeling inspired, my heart was not in the right place. I was feeling sorry for myself, ungrateful and in my mind "hissing at my brother with a chip upon my shoulder", more than one brother I might add. But then we worshiped... after Bill Brown prayed us in I started to strum my guitar and sing the words “all Your ways are good, all Your ways are sure, I trust in You alone … higher than my side, high above my life, I trust in…Read more

OPEN MY EYES LORD!
How I love to worship at FBCP. We opened this past Sunday’s service worshiping God with the song “Open the Eyes of Our Heart”. For me, our first song ushered in the reality of how much I want the Lord to make my heart desire more and more of Him each day. The more I know Jesus, the thirstier I get. He never fails to make poignant, perfect points as He shares them with me through personal revelation

I see much of the “world's view” to life, how to look at it and how to live it seeping into our church today. We all want, as lovers of Jesus Christ, for people to know Him and to receive Him so they will experience His Agape love. Why is it then I am tempted to find other ways besides Scripture to speak His Word to an unbeliever or to a brother or sister in Christ?

Bring a gift of laughter,

Make yourselves at home, talking praise.
Thank him. Worship him.

all-generous in love,

When I was a kid I used to listen to Joni Mitchell. I was attracted to her smart lyric that seemed to flow so effortlessly from her heart; her words were infectious, deep and emotional. I love that.
The words of her song filled my head just now. I am feeling extremely grateful to just be sitting here on my couch doing…Read more
MAY! It is seventy plus degrees out today, yay, May!
I just had a really nice worship time with my worship team (team B) this afternoon (practice for tomorrow).
Our song lineup is all about how beautiful God is, how mighty He is and how we are absolutely NOTHING without Him. Yes, "we" and no, I am not practicing my French.
God has blessed us at First Baptist Church of Portland. We are very near the place of having TWO worship teams serving the contemporary service at 10:45. I call them the A TEAM and the B…Read more
